David Goodman, LLB, CFA

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Goodman leads Dundee’s operations globally, serves on its board of directors, and is ultimately responsible for overseeing Goodman & Company. Prior to his return to Dundee in 2014, a Canadian chartered bank’s acquisition of DundeeWealth brought Mr. Goodman to the bank in a new role as the Head of Global Asset Management, leading the newly acquired Dynamic Fund family and Asset Management division.

Mr. Goodman initially joined Dundee in 1994 as Partner, Vice President and Portfolio Manager. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of Dynamic Funds in 2001, and subsequently of Dynamic’s parent company, DundeeWealth, in 2007. It was under Mr. Goodman’s leadership that the firm was recognized as Fund Company of the Year a record 7 times at the Canadian Investment Awards, and experienced growth of assets under management from $5 billion to over $50 billion. Prior to joining Dundee, Mr. Goodman was an experienced litigator. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in 1985 and a Bachelor of Law (Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1988, where he now serves on the President’s Council. His Chartered Financial Analyst designation was conferred by the University of Virginia in 1996.

Adam Donsky, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Adam brings over two decades of experience in the financial industry to his position as our Chief Investment Officer. This includes his previous role as an investment analyst at Dundee Wealth—one that afforded him the opportunity to be mentored by Ned and David Goodman. It was there Adam learned the proven investment discipline he brings to Goodman & Company. Following five years of working alongside the Goodmans, Adam rose to become Lead Manager of the Blue Chip family of funds. In this role, he managed over $6.5 billion of assets under management (AUM) through the oversight of the Dynamic Blue Chip Funds and discretionary investment counsel for the firm’s high-net-worth and institutional clients. Prior to his return to Dundee in 2016, Adam was Lead Portfolio Manager at 1832 Asset Management (now a division of Scotiabank).

Daymon Loeb, CIM

Managing Director & Portfolio Manager

Daymon returned to Goodman & Company in September 2015 as Managing Director & Portfolio Manager. Daymon is responsible for leading the firm’s initiatives in the private client business. This includes managing the firm’s relationships, contributing to the investment management process and overseeing general operations. Before rejoining Goodman & Company, Daymon spent almost two decades with 1832 Asset Management (now a division of Scotiabank), where he held various positions over the years in portfolio management, business development and client services. More recently, he held the post of Vice President & Portfolio Manager at 1832 Asset Management, where he played a key role in building a successful investment counsel business.

Daymon graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1997 and was awarded the Chartered Investment Manager designation in 2005. Balancing his professional passions with his personal ones, Daymon is also the President of the L.W.W. Children’s Foundation, a charitable organization he co-founded to raise money to support children suffering from the effects of cancer and aneurysms.

Philosophy & Process

"Making money begins with not losing it."
- Adam Donsky

We construct portfolios around two simple objectives: to preserve and grow our clients’ capital. We believe the management of risk, not the management of returns, is the best way to meet our clients’ investment objectives. We aim to achieve this by investing in superior risk-reward opportunities across credit and equity markets. Specifically, we look for financially strong companies with sustainable competitive advantages and the ability to grow and reinvest capital at high rates of return. We also seek to partner with management teams that behave like owners. Our research intensive approach is unique in that we place as much emphasis on valuation and protection of capital as we do on the growth potential of a company. Our discipline demands a substantial mispricing opportunity to warrant investment, therefore, we execute upon only a handful of great ideas rather than volumes of mediocre ideas. This process is not constrained by geography, industry or index considerations, resulting in a highly concentrated portfolio built from the bottom up and based on the best opportunities available.

Investment Solutions

"We construct portfolios around clear objectives: The preservation and enhancement of the purchasing power of capital entrusted to our care."
-Adam Donsky

We have developed an exclusive suite of Goodman & Company investment solutions. Upon identifying the goals of your investment plan, we can then implement the strategy that aligns with those goals.

Discretionary Portfolios

We build customized portfolios tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. This requires our Portfolio Management Team to work closely with each client to establish and monitor a personalized asset allocation strategy reflecting the following key criteria:

  • Investment Objectives
  • Tax Efficiency
  • Risk Tolerance
  • Liquidity Needs
  • Time Horizon
  • Other Objectives and/or Constraints
